Bad Schandau -  oldest health spa in Saxon Switzerland

Bad Schandau lies on both sides of the River Elbe directly at the Saxon Switzerland National Park in the stunning scenery of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The original village center clings to the towering sandstone cliffs of the right, northern bank of the River Elbe and wedges itself partly in the narrow Kirnitzsch valley. Small dreamy streets with cozy cafes and shops invite you to look and linger. For over 100 years, people find here rest and relaxation. In 1920, this small village with its 4,000 inhabitants and its districts Ostrava, Schmilka, Postelwitz and Krippen received the official title of “Bad” and received the title “Kneipp spa” in 1936. Enjoy the flair of Bad Schandau strolling through the park along the cool Kirnitzsch. An old overland tram, the Kirnitzschtalbahn, goes along the river for several kilometers and opens up the nearby hiking area. Numerous leisure facilities, such as the Toskana Therme with Liquid Sound, provide an extensive and varied offering.
